The infamous Shillong Accord was signed between the representatives of the Govt. of India and Underground Organizations in 1975. It was a notoriously controversial Accord because of its many inherent flaws and negative aftermath.
Late Dr. A.Z. Phizo, the then President of Naga National Council (NNC) was condemned for his failure to condemn and disown the controversial Accord. On the other hand, had he (in the capacity of NNC President) made any remark on the Accord, he might have unnecessarily dragged the then only political institution of the Nagas into controversy which our adversary could have used to its advantage to validate the document. What remains of his conscious or subconscious inaction (silence) on the issue needs to be analyzed on positive aspect.
Dr. K. Hoshi
