Why ban the internet? Is it because it's the only source of information and communication for the common masses? Or have they forgotten that the masses can communicate through television, radio, local dailies, calls and other means? Freedom of speech a basic human right and internet connectivity to the rest of the world falls into its purview.
Where in the rest of the world whether underdeveloped, developing or developed world save the ones under dictatorship; employs banning of internet a solution to any social, political or economic issue?
The banning of internet did not stop the bandh from happening, it did not stop the buildings from burning, it did not stop the chaos and riots from occurring, it certainly had no role in precious lives being lost, God bless their souls. What it did do is hamper the connectivity between family and friends alike who are staying outside Nagaland. Imagine the plight of students who are doing online classes and coaching, no more online researching for the tech savvy generation. Professionals and business entrepreneurs who depend solely on internet are taking a major hit. Lift the internet ban; bring us back to the 21st century.
