Why picket??

With due apologies, if necessary, we the selected PT/GT candidates of KOHIMA district would like to make known to the curious public on the ongoing speculation of picketing in the various District DEO’S. We write representing the KOHIMA district scenario.

Our action of picketing maybe questioned and even condemned, but give us this chance to let our voice be also heard, as to why we resorted to such a measure. To be honest, it gives us no pleasure to sit on the road with all our degrees, training and achievement in the heat and sun to picket offices, keep people from their work and negotiate with officials, and security. But we are compelled to do so. We will explain WHY.

To be recruited as teachers who will impart knowledge to the upcoming generation, we only thought it was proper to wait on what the government would do for us. We tolerated, we waited, We also paid the price by losing our jobs. It is only humane that we are now running low on patience with the “supposedly” democratic government being indifferent towards us. When we knock on the doors of the government to help us, we are only given a sorry picture on the pretext of the “stay order” given by the court, while we believe that the government should step up for its own people. Or is the government handicapped or crippled ??

Much to our dismay, we have also come to learn of the lack of communication among the concerned officials authorities and their ignorance of the up to date events. What is the point of fair exams if a group of failed candidates cannot be tackled by the government? Why make a big joke of our own achievement and not give us what is due to us? Will the hundred failed candidates be allowed to hamper the future of two thousand eight hundreds (2800) selected candidates? Does anyone see any logic behind all these?

Instead of the higher-ups giving pressure to their sub-ordinates to open the lock which was locked by the selected teachers why don’t they give pressure to the village schools where the students are crying for teachers? Why all the silence? Can thinking reasoning people see the larger picture? Is anyone aware enough of what we are going through? Why are the failed B.Ed candidates hell bent on cancellation of the 2012 PT/GT exam result when you know that a good number of you don’t even meet the requirements for obtaining the professional B.Ed training? Why give appointment/ regularization orders to the bogus/ ad hoc teachers when We have our genuine hard earned degrees? Why empty promise from the government for the past five months. Now next court hearing is scheduled for Nov 5. How long is this going to go on? How much longer for the wait?

Allow us to quote this “POLITICAL AND SOCIAL RIGHTS HAVE NO MEANING TO A HUNGRY MAN”
