Wildlife Week 2016 celebrated in Wokha

Wokha, October 5 (MExN): As part of Wildlife Week 2016 celebration, Wokha Division and Doyang Plantation Division of Forest department in collaboration with Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha conducted a wildlife awareness programme on October 5.  

Keeping in mind the theme - ‘Members Matter: Working together for wildlife’, an essay writing competition was held on the topic ‘My role in conserving wildlife of Wokha’, where students of class VIII to XII participated.  

Prize distribution was held at the school auditorium in the presence of Father Joseph, Principal, DBHSS, DFO Wokha division, DFO Doyang Plantation Division, RFO Doyang and Forest Guards. The DFO Doyang briefly talked on how Wildlife Week stated and how important role students can play. She also spoke on conservation issues stressing on how as an individual the students can contribute towards conserving and maintaining a green and clean environment with simple practices.  

A press release informed that first prize of the essay contest went to Esther N Odyuo, Cl-XII; second prize to Johnny R Ezung, Cl-XII; third prize to Zuben Shitiri, Cl-XII; and consolation prizes were won by Zubenthung Z Humtsoe, Cl-XII, Lumchen L Odyuo, Cl-VIII, Khonzani Murry, Cl-XI and Amos Limbu, Cl-XI.
