The United Naga Council (UNC) on Wednesday said the “Nagas will not accept any disintegration of Naga areas in attempting to address any appeal or demand by any community.”

In a memorandum submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah today, which was made available to Newmai News Network late tonight in Imphal, the UNC cautioned that "breaking up Naga areas or adversely affecting the Nagas in any way will have serious ramification that will provoke further senseless violence with different communities”.

The memorandum to the Union Home Minister by the UNC then said that the latter "submits this representation in the matter of an enduring, inclusive and honorable Indo-Naga political settlement based on Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015.”

While asserting that it will not accept any disintegration of Naga areas in attempting to address any appeal or demand by any community, the UNC said “Breaking up Naga areas or adversely affecting the Nagas in any way will have serious ramification that will provoke further senseless violence with the different communities.”

It therefore urged that the Naga people be consulted while considering any settlement to address the prevailing situation.

It also said the Government of India must uphold the sanctity of the “historic Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015 in letter and spirit for enduring and peaceful co-existence of India and the Nagas and to expeditiously translate the same into a political reality.”
