
Zunheboto, November 2 (MExN): The Sumi Baptist Convention (SBC) at its recently concluded Biennial session at Suruhuto from October 27 to 28 resolved and made its stand clear that it will “not tolerate any “homosexual act on account of its firm biblical position.” The SBC Council during its session deliberated on the recent Supreme Court ruling on section 377 of the Indian penal code decriminalizing homosexuality. A press release from SBC informed that “the Council strongly oppose homosexuality and further urged the Sumi Churches not to afford the practice of homosexuality any degree of approval through same sex marriage.” The Biennial session was held under the theme “Together We Serve.” The speakers of the session were Rev Hotokhu Jimo, Executive Secretary SABAK; Niholi Shohe, Academic Dean Nito Theological College and Rev Kihoto, Pastor Chekiye Baptist Church. Khehovi Yeptho Advisor, Art & Culture and Tourism; KT Sukhalu IAS (Rtd) Advisor School Education and Dr Hokishe Yeptho Chairman, Sumi Literature Board exhorted the congregation.
