Nagaland Advisor for School Education and SCERT, KT Sukhalu today reiterated his stance on the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989 and asserted that he would propose its lifting if the present government returns to power.

God willing, if we come back (to power), I am going to move for lifting of the prohibition, he stated while addressing the 25th Anniversary celebration of Nagaland Government Higher Secondary Employees Association (NGHSSEA)
I think I have a support of many of my colleague, he maintained, while exuding confidence that the present dispensation under the able leadership of Neiphiu Rio would return to power.

The Advisor, however, stressed that he is for lifting the prohibition not because he encourages drinking, but given the limited revenue generation avenues of the state.

‘Whatever Revenue that we get… I'm going to propose that it should be used for education and health sector,’ he insisted.

In July too, Sukhalu suggested lifting of prohibition and using the revenue generated from the sale of liquor to improve  education and healthcare facilities.
