Nagaland Rural Development & SIRD minister Metsubo Jamir today said that the government will be taking up the issue of NHIDCL projects in the state with the concerned departments.
In absence of TR Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for incharge of National Highways, Jamir replied this to MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu’S starred question on the present status of NHIDLC projects pertaining to construction of two lane, National Highway- 29 Kohima- Jessami Package 2, 3 and 5.
The written reply informed that the Kohima-Jessami Road Package-2 has been terminated. Bid for the construction of balance work is under evaluation and R&R maintenance work has been awarded to the M/s Vertex Construction for maintenance work of the road stretch till the appointment of new contractor for balance work.
For Kohima-Jessami Road Package-3, the construction work is under progress while the Kohima Jessami Road Package-5 has been terminated. Bid for the construction of balance work is under evaluation and emergent repair has been awarded to the M/S Artain Emterprise Pvt. Ltd. for clearing landslides and make the road motorable till the appointment of a new contractor for balance work.
On cumulative percentage of physical and financial progress, Kohima-Jessami Road Package-2 stands at Physical Progress: 58 80%, Financial Progress: 54.08%; Kohima-Jessami Road Package-3 stands at Physical Progress: 61.54%, Financial Progress: 54.57%; and Kohima-Jessami Road Package-5 stands at Physical Progress: 41.43%, Financial Progress: 37.77%.
The ground for termination of the Kohima-Jessami Road Package-2 was stated to be non-genuine bank guarantee, slow progress of work, non-achievement of milestone and scheduled extended completion.
The ground for termination of the Kohima-Jessami Road Package-5 was stated to be slow progress, insufficient stock of aggregate and other raw materials, poor workmanship, inadequate man-power and machinery and non-rectification of defects in works.
The main reasons for delay of the work on three packages, i.e. packages 2, 3 and 5, were said to be non deployment of adequate man power, machineries and material and poor work planning for the time bound project.
