Wings of Passion: Arenla Subong releases compilation of plays

  Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): Arenla Subong of the popular Naga folk fusion band Abiogenesis has added another feather to her cap by releasing a book titled ‘Wings of Passion.’   The book, a compilation of Arenla’s four plays, was launched by Dr. SC Jamir, Governor of Odisha at the inaugural function of the 3rd Odisha Art and Literature Festival on February 1 at IDCOL Auditorium, Bhubaneshwar.   Titled Lichaba’s Daughter, Sojourn Of The Ahom Prince In Naga Hills, Big Time Buddies, and Adapting to Change, the four plays have already been staged.   The book published by Heritage Publishing is priced at Rs. 300/- and will be available in select book stalls and online stores after the book’s launching ceremony in Dimapur, informed a press release.   In the evening of February 1, Arenla along with her husband and band mate Moa Subong entertained the gathering for about an hour with Naga Howey music at the Odisha Art and Literature Festival. They were also featured in the second day programme titled ‘Soul Music From The Hills, In Conversation with Arenla and Moa…’   Odisha Art & Literature Festival is a beyond-the-borders endeavour to create a space for Odia as well as Indian and international thinkers, poets, writers, artistes, painters, musicologists, translators, lyricists, singers, playwrights, stage directors, cine artists and social scientists for deliberations through panel discussions, interviews, readings, and performances.   It hosts writers and artistes of all genres from Odisha, India, and beyond to create a sanguine atmosphere for cultural dissemination, the release added.
