WNYF commends police action in abduction case

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 27 (MExN): The interim Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF) has expressed appreciation for the Dimapur Police Commissioner following the arrest of the main suspect in an extortion and abduction case that occurred on October 10, 2024.

Empowered by the Chairman of the Ceasefire Supervisor Board, the Nagaland Police acted swiftly, ensuring an early delivery of justice, it stated.

The WNYF also recognized the solidarity shown by tribal youth organizations, business associations, and community members who rallied together until justice was achieved. They emphasized the importance of unity among Naga youth in combating social evils that threaten the growth and well-being of future generations.

The WNYF, meanwhile, urged authorities to invoke the National Security Act (NSA) against the arrested individual to prevent the law from being undermined. They further appealed to the Ceasefire Monitoring Board to enforce the ceasefire ground rules rigorously and called on the Ministry of Home Affairs to address existing loopholes promptly.

The organization reiterated its earlier position that designated camps, mess facilities, and Ceasefire Supervisory Board offices should be relocated from public areas. They encouraged villages that have issued No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to revoke them, warning that those failing to do so may be held accountable for any public disturbances.
