Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): The Western Naga Youth Front (WNYF) on Sunday strongly condemned the reported armed threat incident at Jalukie ‘B’ village in Peren district on September 20, 2026, wherein unidentified armed individuals allegedly appeared at the residence of R John Zeliang, President of Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland (ZYFN), “carrying sophisticated weapons.”
The WNYF in a press release said such acts of intimidation and the display of firearms against individuals or communities are not only deeply disturbing but also a serious threat to public peace, security and the rule of law. The youth front asserted that it has zero tolerance for the use of armed intimidation, threats or coercion to settle differences or create fear among the people.
It urged the competent authorities to immediately conduct a swift, impartial and thorough investigation, identify those responsible and bring the perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law, adding that no individual or group should be allowed to take the law into their own hands or use weapons to threaten peaceful citizens.
The WNYF expressed solidarity with Zeliang, his family and the Zeliangrong community, and appealed to all sections to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could disturb peaceful coexistence.
It said peace in Nagaland must not be taken for granted, and that it will continue to stand against gun culture, criminal intimidation and any attempt to undermine the safety and dignity of the people.
