Wokha-Bokajan road remains closed for past two years

Wokha, February 11 (MExN): The District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) monthly meeting of Wokha was held at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha on February 11. 

In regard to status of Wokha-Bokajan road, DC Wokha Vineet Kumar (IAS) who chaired the meeting informed that the “road remains un-operational for the past last two years,” a DIPR report stated here.

In this regard, EE R&B of Baghty informed the board that “road along this stretch has been severely cut off in two locations” and in this matter, estimates and proposal has already been submitted to higher authority for sanction for restoration of the said road. 

The board after deliberation requested the concerned department to take up follow-up action to ensure that sanctioned is being made for restoration of the road.

Other agendas
District TB Officer, Wokha highlighted about the various campaign activities in regard to elimination of TB Programme/100 days TB campaign and intensive campaign to accelerate TB case detection, reduce mortality and prevent new cases through TB burden in stratified approach undertaken in the district.

In regard to river rafting & kayaking/canoeing sports to be taken up in Doyang and Youth Advisory Counsel (YAC) to be implemented and launched at Wokha district which was presented by District Youth Resource & Sports Officer (DYRO), the DC Wokha requested the DYRO to prepare a draft proposal and modalities and present in the next DPDB meeting for approval.

The DC Wokha while presenting the draft vision document of Banana said a copy of the same is already being circulated, he requested all the members to give suggestion and inputs to be included in the draft documents before finalisation.  

Folk Festival from February 26 to 28
President Team Metamorphosis, Thungdemo Kyong presented in detail about the Folk Festival which is scheduled to be held from February 26 to 28 at Doyang. He also informs the board that the event is supported by Government of Nagaland in collaboration with department of Tourism. 

Commenting on this the DC Wokha said, this event is being organised to promote eco-tourism in the district, where he requested all departments to extend support and co-operation for the successful conduct of the event.

PowerPoint presentation was also presented by department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources and department of Power. 

In response to the presentation made by DFO (Fisheries), Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan asked the DFO to prepare a proposal for restoration of the Ice Plan located at Doyang, as it remains un-operational since its installation way back in 2012. Yanthan further said that now that HSLC examination has commenced, he requested the EE. Power to ensure uninterrupted power supply is given during this period for the welfare of the student’s community.

The meeting was also attended by Chairman DPDB Wokha, Mhonbemo Humtsoe.
