Wokha, May 16 (MExN): The citizens of Wokha, on May 15, submitted a representation to Deputy Commissioner Wokha, alleging that the ongoing construction of National Highway-61 (NH-2) is being carried out without meeting the necessary specifications at various locations.
The joint representation by the Wokha Village Youth Organisation, along with the Wokha Village Council, Wokha Village Women Organisation, Wokha Village Students’ Union, and Wokha Village Elders’ Forum, urged the district administration to give urgent attention to seven different grievances concerning the stretch from 72.40 KM to 83.00 KM in Wokha Town.
The representation demanded that the district administration address the issues within six days. If not, the organisations cautioned that they would take various actions, including blocking the highway, as stated a press release. The representation was made considering its significant consequences on the lives, safety, and overall progress and development of Wokha District, it further added.
