Wokha DC orders mandatory registration of coaching centres

WOKHA, FEBRUARY 6 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, has issued a notification directing all coaching centres operating in the district to mandatorily register in accordance with the Guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centres in the State of Nagaland 2025.

The order follows a notification dated November 26, 2025, and the constitution of the District Level Committee for Regulation of Coaching Centres, Wokha. All existing coaching centres have been directed to apply for registration on or before February 25 to ensure minimum standards and safeguard student interests.

As per the guidelines, any establishment providing tuition or guidance to more than 20 students for academic support, study programmes or competitive examinations is required to register, with each branch treated as a separate entity. Centres engaged exclusively in counselling, sports, dance, theatre and other creative activities are exempted.

The notification states that registration requires submission of documents including verification formats, reports from area administrative officers, treasury challans, undertakings by proprietors, display details of tutor qualifications and fee structures, character certificates of tutors, prospectus of courses offered, fire and building safety certificates and details of student grievance redressal committees.

The order further specifies that no student below 16 years of age shall be enrolled unless they have completed secondary school examinations. Applications are to be submitted to the Development Branch of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Wokha, with a copy of the guidelines enclosed for strict compliance.
