Wokha DC warns against illegal money lending

Wokha, October 21 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar (IAS), has issued an order warning against illegal money lending operations within the district. According to the official notice, several individuals and groups have been found conducting money lending businesses without the proper licensing, in violation of the Nagaland Money Lenders Act, 2005.

The order highlights that such unlicensed money lending is prohibited under the Act, and those involved could face imprisonment of up to six months, a fine of up to Rs 2,500, or both. Residents of Wokha district are urged to comply with the law, as authorities will take strict action against violators.

The notice has been circulated to various administrative officers and community leaders, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, area administrative officers, and leaders of the Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Youth Hoho, and other associations for further dissemination and necessary action.

The district administration has urged the public to report any illegal money lending activities to ensure compliance with the law.
