Wokha district commemorates World TB Day in Longsa Village.

The NTEP Office of the District Tuberculosis Centre Wokha organised a programme to observe World Tuberculosis Day at Longsa Village Cultural Hall under Wokha District on March 24 

Dr Akum Jamir shared on the significance of the day. He further highlighted that Wokha district stands out as one of the top-performing districts in the state. He outlined the symptoms of TB, such as a persistent cough lasting more than two weeks, weight loss, fever, and sweating and stressed the importance of raising awareness about TB transmission.

Additionally, Dr Jamir mentioned the availability of GeneXpert machines in district headquarters for testing and the provision of free medication for six months to TB-positive patients by the government. He also discussed subsidies provided through the DBT method, including Rs 500 for nutritional support and Rs 750 for travel expenses, directly transferred to patients' accounts.

K Furhesie Nyuwi ADC Wokha in his short speech commended and congratulated the nine awarded villages. The nine villages -Longsachung, Okhyeyan, Theneyan, Koio, Rusanphen, Seluku, Sankiton, Bhandari, and Mekirang - were honoured with the TB-free award.
