Wokha, November 28 (MExN): The 7th general conference of the Wokha District Gaon Burahs (GBs) Association took place at the Town Hall in Bhandari on November 27.
The conference theme was ‘Administration of Justice,’ emphasizing the crucial role of GBs in ensuring justice at the grassroots level, stated a DIPR report.
Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS attended the conference as the special guest. The DC Wokha acknowledged the significant role played by Gaonburas, not only in assisting the district administration but also as a voice for justice in villages.
The DC urged GBs to play proactive roles in strengthening the GBs federation and guiding the society towards progress. He emphasized the importance of education, healthcare, and addressing water-related issues.
Amos Kikon, Chairman of LLRPO, highlighted the powers, roles, and functions of GBs. He appealed for the official acknowledgment of GBs who have been serving without formal recognition.
