Wokha, June 20 (MExN): Stop Diarrhoea Campaign with the slogan ‘Stop Diarrhoea through Hygiene and ORS’ was launched in Wokha district by Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha at conference hall, CMO office Wokha on June 18.
A tress release from Chief Medical Officer’s office Wokha stated that addressing the participants, Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung called upon the health workers to amplify the message on diarrhoea in their respective areas. He explained the importance of administering ORS and zinc to children suffering from diarrhoea and how early intervention can prevent major health risk.
While delivering the keynote address, Dr Thungchanpeni Patton, DPO (UIP/ RCH) said the goal of this campaign is to reach zero child death due to diarrhoea. She highlighted on the objective to ensure high coverage of ORS and zinc usage among children with diarrhoea by inculcating appropriate behaviour in the community through information, education and communication. She informed the health workers to demonstrate ORS preparation, hand hygiene techniques and set up ORS corners at their respective health facilities during the campaign period.
Dr Thungchanpeni also encouraged the health workers for convergence with line department and stakeholders in the campaign.
Practical demonstration on preparation of ORS was performed by Zuchobeni, Urban ASHA ward 12. The programme was chaired by Mhonbeni Ezung, DPM and vote of thanks delivered by Echungbeni Tsanglao, DCM. Programme officers, medical officers, BPMs, BACs, Urban ASHAs and medical staffs attended the programme.
