Wokha district leads Nagaland in PMMVY campaign

Best-performing Anganwadi Centres and workers honoured

Wokha, September 11 (MExN): The Department of Social Welfare, Wokha, organised a felicitation programme to mark the completion of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) campaign drive. The event was held at Wokha Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall on September 11, stated a DIPR report.

Wokha DC and Chairman of Mission Shakti, Vineet Kumar, IAS, in his address, acknowledged the dedication and tireless efforts of Anganwadi workers across the district. He highlighted the multifaceted challenges faced by field workers and encouraged them to continue their transformative role in improving the lives of women and children through committed service.

Experience-sharing sessions were presented by Supervisor, Social Welfare, Nchumthung and Anganwadi Worker from Chukitong Nchumbeni Ezung. They reflected on their journey during the campaign, the impact created at the grassroots level, and expressed gratitude to the DC, DHEW, DPOs, and CDPOs for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the drive.

As part of the recognition, 11 best-performing Anganwadi Centres and workers were felicitated with certificates and cash incentives. Additionally, five sector supervisors received certificates for outstanding performance.

The PMMVY commitment drive was conducted from July 15 to August 15, 2025, across Wokha district. The district achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the first rank in Nagaland and fourth place at the national level (All India Rank) reflecting significant progress and effective implementation.

The programme was chaired by DMC, DHEW Wokha, Wonjano E Enny, while the welcome and introductory remarks were delivered by District Programme Officer, Bonathung Ngullie.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a maternity benefit scheme launched by the Government of India to support pregnant and lactating women, particularly from economically weaker sections. Under PMMVY 2.0, eligible beneficiaries receive Rs 5,000 for the first child and Rs 6,000 for the second child if it is a girl. The scheme promotes institutional delivery, proper nutrition, and early childcare, and is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child.
