The Wokha District Table Tennis Championship 2024 closing ceremony was held today at Youth Centre, DBHSS Wokha with C Hachio Patton, PRO to the Deputy Chief Minister as the special guest. The event was organised by Wokha District Table Tennis Association.
Patton, in his address, emphasised the importance of sports in fostering community spirit and personal development. He expressed that the event is particularly significant for the district and hoped it will have lasting effects.
He emphasised the importance of sports, noting that it is not just about the love of the game but also serves to unite us in various ways. While many players participate for their passion and love for the game, he highlighted that for younger and emerging athletes, sports can play a crucial role in their future careers.

Success, he pointed out, does not come from the top; rather, it begins at the grassroots level. He commended all participants and congratulated the champions of the tournament.
The tournament saw notable performances, with David Hinglak, Zichumthung Ngullie, Chumben, and Nchumbemo selected to represent Wokha district in the upcoming 27th Nagaland Inter-District & State Table Tennis Championship 2024. The women’s team will comprise Mharoli, Kulutolu, and Kuthotsolu.
Additionally, the event honoured three women athletes—Mharoli Gigi Khuvung, Vonchano Ngullie, and Mulutolu Puro—who recently won bronze medals in the team event at the Nagaland Olympics.
