Wokha District Table Tennis Championship concludes

The Wokha District Table Tennis Championship cum Inter-School Table Tennis Championship 2025, organised by the Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA), concluded on 13 September at the Youth Centre, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha.

The closing ceremony was graced by Dr Chumben Murry, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, as the special guest, with Dr Jonsuthung Kithan, President of the Wokha District Badminton Association, as the special invitee.

In his address, Dr Chumben Murry congratulated the players for their spirited participation and lauded the organisers for providing a platform to nurture sporting talent in the district. Highlighting the importance of sports in building discipline, determination and teamwork, he noted that sporting events such as the championship not only promote healthy competition but also create avenues for future opportunities, including professional exposure and employment.

He further emphasised the growing support of the State Government towards developing sports infrastructure in Nagaland, stating that several facilities had been established in recent years.

Expressing optimism, Dr Murry encouraged young players to pursue the game with dedication, noting that sports can play a vital role in shaping careers as well as instilling values of perseverance.

Special invitee Dr Jonsuthung Kithan, in his speech, acknowledged the challenges faced in promoting sports due to high costs of training and equipment, but stressed the importance of collective effort from associations, parents and the community. He called for greater collaboration between sporting bodies in order to identify and nurture promising talents from an early age.

The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, recognising the winners across various categories. The closing remarks and vote of thanks were delivered by Thechamo Kikon, Vice President, WDTTA.
