The Wokha District Table Tennis Association (WDTTA) on Friday organised the Wokha District Table Tennis Championship cum Inter-School Table Tennis Championship 2025 at the Youth Centre, DBHSS, Wokha. The two-day event will conclude on September 13.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, as the Special Guest.

In his address, the ADC encouraged the young players to use the tournament as a platform to hone their talents, build discipline, and pursue sports with seriousness. He reminded the participants that while winning is important, the greater value of such championships lies in learning, developing character, and striving for excellence in whichever field they choose. “It is only through dedication and consistency that one can achieve success,” he said while wishing the players the very best.

Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Organising Secretary James Ezung noted that players from different schools and places were participating in the event, reflecting the growing interest in the sport. He also pointed out the challenges faced by the Association due to lack of infrastructure and resources but expressed optimism that with collective support, table tennis in the district can be nurtured further.

He said sports is not just about competition but also about building unity, character, and discipline. Despite limitations, the WDTTA has continued to work towards creating a platform for the younger generation. He appealed to well-wishers, the community, and like-minded individuals to support the Association in strengthening sports culture in the district.

The championship will witness inter-school and district-level competitions over the course of the two days.
