Wokha DPDB holds monthly meeting

Wokha, November 9 (DIPR): The monthly meeting of Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held on November 9 at DC’s conference hall, Wokha.    

The meeting, which was chaired by ADC of Wokha, Thavaseelan, approved the registration of VON-JEN School of Music Wokha, up-gradation of Government High School Sungro to Government Higher Secondary School, registration of Class-1 Contractors’ Union Wokha District. These will be forwarded to the departments concerned for recommendation.    

Representative from State Resource Centre for Women Nagaland apprised about the introduction of women helpline 181, which is a 24 hours toll-free telecom service for women affected by violence and seeking support and information. The helpline will facilitate crisis and non-crisis intervention through referral to the appropriate agencies such as police/ hospitals/ ambulance services/ District Legal Services Authority/ Protection Officer/ OSC, provide information about the appropriate support services, government schemes and programmes available to the women affected with violence, in her own locality.    

The Lotha Hoho also raised the issue concerning restoration of high mast street lamp in three locations of the town which are now lying non-functional. In this regard, the board decided to approach the elected legislators in the district as to how funds can be mobilised for restoration of the high mast street lamp. Power and Labour Departments presented their department activities.
