Wokha DPDB meeting highlight needs of additional SDAO office

Wokha, December 10 (MExN): The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting cum Advent Christmas celebration was held on December 10 at Hammock Resort, Wokha. Vice Chairman DPDB and DC, Wokha Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS chaired the meeting.  

Reviewing the last meeting minute for creation of SDAO office at Ralan, District Agriculture Officer, R Santsu Kithan apprised the board that at present there is only one SDAO Office at Wokha district where he stated that as per Government recommendation Cadre Review Committee and subsequent approval of the state Cabinet, every ADC HQ in the state is entitled to have SDAO Office and since SDO (C) Sanis has been upgraded to ADC HQ there is dire need of another SDAO office at Ralan New for the benefit of Ralan and Yamhon area.  

He added if SDAO office is established at Ralan New, all agricultural development activities can be carried out smoothly for the people of Ralan and Yamhon area and the latest agricultural technologies can be reached out to the poor and needy farmers. The belt being considered the rice bowl of Wokha district requires immediate attention of the Government, stated a press release from DPRO & IA, Wokha.  

Proposal for widening and black topping from Bailey College to junction to DIET institute was also discussed and the board agreed to forward to Chief Engineer R&B for necessary consideration.  

Reacting on the creation of Commerce stream at Government Higher Secondary School Wokha, Principal, Mt Tiyi College, Dr Abeni apprised the board about the need to have commerce streams in the institution considering the need of the poor students wanting to pursue in this stream.  

The proposal submitted by Sr SDEO, Wokha for change of nomenclature of Bethsaida Kindergarten School was also forwarded to Director Education for recommendation.  

Chief Medical Officer, Dr Robin acknowledged all departments involved during the conduct of MR Campaign and thanked all for the efforts put in achieving the target of 98.41 percent.  

E.E.R&B, Chenithung Ngullie highlighted the progress of the ongoing repairing of approach roads in the town area. The Chairman directed that repairing of the roads needs to be taken note in seriousness to ensure good workmanship for the benefit of the general public.  

Department of PHED highlighted schemes and works undertaken in various parts of the district and launching of the recently commissioned water augmentation. Reacting to the presentation by PHED department MLA, Dr Chumben Murry said that out of 7000 odd household in Wokha town there are only 600 household availing the water supply and suggested that department needed much to be done and rectified so that scarcity of water be solved.  

Dr Murry also appealed to the departments to give accurate information while giving presentation so that systematic planning/vision can be carried out in future. He further urged all departments to contribute important information and articles in the Quarterly DPDB Magazine.  

Executive Secretary, Lotha Baptist Ekhumkho Sanrhyutsu (LBES) Vankhosung, Reverend Nyanchumo Lotha said that the real meaning of Christmas is to remind us that “Jesus Christ came to this world to sacrifice his life for us so that we are being redeemed from our sin to give us eternal salvation.” He said that Christmas is also a message of peace and love and if peace prevail out of forgiveness, that is the true meaning of Christmas.  

A Christmas greeting was also delivered by Dr Murry, DC Wokha and Chairman Lotha Hoho, Er Mhondamo Ovung.
