Wokha, August 10 (MExN): The Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting on August 9, during which it reviewed the COVID-19 preparedness in the district.
Chairperson of the Wokha DPDB, Wokha Mmhonlumo Kikon sought updates on the status of COVID preparedness in the district and whether the priorities that were discussed during the last meeting were addressed or not.
In response, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) informed that the district has intensified random testing and special vaccination drive during the last two-three weeks. He also informed that the district has witnessed an increase of 752 numbers in testing, and 1000 increase in numbers of vaccination. The CMO further stated that several action plans are being worked out to increase the level of awareness and sensitization in the district, a DIPR report informed.
Kikon meanwhile urged the people to get themselves tested and vaccinated and help in educating the public about the benefit of the getting vaccinated. He also urged the District Task Force (DTF) to conduct various meetings with the colonies in order to increase the testing and vaccination levels in the district.
Held at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha, the meeting was chaired by ADC (HQ), Wokha, T Lankonsen Tsanglao.
Proposal for Registration of Society for Air Gun Sporting Association Nagaland (ASAN) proposed by its President Achamo Odyuo was approved by the board and forwarded to government for approval.
Executive Engineer (EE), PHED Er Imnazulu Ao while delivering a presentation about Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), highlighted the civil works under District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) that are ongoing in the district.
The EE also stated that Implementation Support Agency (ISAs) will carry out functions like need assessment of FHTCs and motivate communities to have FHTCs, act as coordination platform between DWSM and VWSC, use Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools for community mobilization and carry out need assessment, assisting the community in water campaigns initiated by government of India/ State government and carry out Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) activities.
The duration of engagement for JJM work is from 2020-2025.
At the district level, DWSM is responsible for overall implementation of water supply and sanitation. The Deputy Commissioner, who heads the DWSM, pointed out that district water and sanitation mission was formed during 2003 and is functional till date.
