Wokha, October 28 (MExN): Vitamin Angels Team, technical partner of National Health Mission, Nagaland, organized orientation programme for Community Health Officers, ANMs and ASHA Coordinators of Wokha district on Vitamin A at CMO Conference hall Wokha on October 27 and 28.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Wokha, Dr Zuben Kikon welcomed the Vitamin Angels Team in the district and encouraged the trainees to be attentive during the training sessions, stated a press release from Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Wokha.
Swapan Das, Consultant for North East region, Vitamin Angels, said the goal of the training is enhance competent delivery of Vitamin A supplement to children between 6 to 59 months and deworming tablets to 12 to 59 months in the district.
Guru Prasad, State Programme Officer, Rajasthan, Vitamin Angels, took session on the basics of Vitamin A, Vitamin A deficiency, soil transmitted helminthes basics, sanitation, age appropriate VAS doses, albendazole doses and frequency.
He urged the health workers to impart the knowledge gained from the training to their colleagues at respective health centres. The four member team also conducted pre tests, question and answer sessions and practical demonstrations for the trainees.
Vitamin Angels is an international non-governmental organization, present in 70 countries to address the global public health problem of under nutrition.
