Wokha: Health workers recognised for contribution in eliminating TB

Wokha, March 24 (MExN): National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) Wokha organised a programme to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day with the theme ‘Yes! We can end TB' at Community hall, Wozhuro under Wokha district on March 24. During the programme, staffs of NTEP Wokha who had contributed in eliminating TB were facilitated by the medical department.

A press release from Chief Medical Officer’s office Wokha stated that the programme commenced with invocation by Libenthung Khuvung, Pastor, Shaki Baptist Church. Speech on significance of the day was delivered by Dr Akum Jamir, District TB Officer, District TB centre, Wokha. He explained on the impact of TB disease on an individual, free treatment and nutritional support for TB provided by the medical department.

Songs were presented by Hungchanta Ren Eloe Okho, Phiro and Phiro Baptist Church Choir. Short speech was made by Yanbemo Tungoe, Wozhuro Range Union Chairman and a cured TB patient from Phiro village shared his experience on overcoming the disease. Tshopeu, Psychologist, NTEP Wokha, spoke on the harmful effects of tobacco. 

The programme was chaired by Therali Tungoe, President Thera Women Society Wozhuro and vote of thanks delivered by Renbeni Tsanglao, Senior Treatment Supervisor Bhandari. Zuchamo Murry, Pastor Sankiton Baptist Church pronounced the benediction.
