Wokha hit & run case: CTYO cautions total ban of truck movement

Wokha, December 27 (MExN): The Chukitong Town Youth Organization (CTYO), upon the unfortunate incident resulting in the loss of life of one of its members Late Meribemo R Patton and grievously injured Hayithung T Shitiri in a hit and run case on December 24 at NH 02 by an LP Truck, has on Wednesday unequivocally denounced the reckless act of the truck driver. 

At the same time, the CTYO has appealed to the law enforcing agencies to “leave no stone unturned” in delivering justice to the victims by tracing out the fleeing truck driver and book him within 48 hours with immediate effect from the time of the release of this communiqué.

Likewise, it warned that the CTYO shall impose a total bandh on all truck movements along the stretch of its jurisdiction till justice is served and the offender is held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. 

Wokha Police appeals for withdrawal of road blockade 

The Superintendent of Police, Wokha, while expressing condolences on the unfortunate death of Late Meribemo Patton during the hit and run incident on NH-2, on Friday informed that the police was able to ascertain the details of the truck NL-07A/2482, which was involved in the incident and has been seized after observing all legal formalities. 

However, it informed that the accused driver-Chotalal Yadav (40) is absconding. At the same time, it assured that the search effort is being pursued by the District Police to track and apprehend the accused driver at the earliest. 

Likewise, it requested the CTYO to temporarily suspend the road blockade enforced on NH-2 for heavy vehicles w.e.f 26/12/25 in the Chukitong area, to give reasonable time for the ongoing police investigation.
