WOKHA, NOVEMBER 22 (MExN): The Land Owners' Union and the affected villages of Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS) in Wokha district have formally requested the Nagaland government to revive the Administrative Headquarter of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) office at the DHPS with full administrative, judicial, and revenue collection powers.
In a letter addressed to the Nagaland Chief Secretary, the representation highlighted that the Governor of Nagaland had established a temporary Administrative HQ at Doyang Hydro-Electric Plant (now DHPS) in 1986, with an ADC assigned to oversee the area's governance, law and order, land acquisition, and settlement of issues for the 17 affected villages within the Sungro and Englan ranges. However, this arrangement was discontinued by the state government in 1997.
The issue was revisited in 2018, when the Wokha District Planning Board recommended the revival of the ADC office at DHPS to ensure effective governance in the surrounding catchment area. Subsequently, the proposal was submitted to the Chief Secretary's office through the Wokha Deputy Commissioner on August 20, 2018, and forwarded by the ADC Planning, DPMC & Member Secretary on February 26, 2019.
In the recent representation, the Land Owners' Union and the affected villages reiterated their request for the restoration of the ADC office at Doyang, while emphasizing its importance for administrative convenience and improved governance.
