Wokha, July 14 ( MExN): An outreach programme on “Police Ke Pathshala” with the theme ”Building Trust” was launched at Wokha on July 11 at Mount Tiyi College by Manojkumar A, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Wokha.
A press release stated that during the program, Manojkumar said that the objective of the initiative is to promote police public relations as the key aspect of policing and to create awareness among the student community regarding the “Rule of Law” and functioning of policing system. He also said that the initiative aims at changing the perception of public towards the Police department and that a team has been set up headed by Imkongsangba Jamir NPS SDPO Wokha, who will be conducting the same programme in all colleges and Higher Secondary schools in the district.
Abeni Lotha, Principal, Mt Tiyi College expressed her gratitude to SP Wokha and his team of officers for taking the initiative to reach out to the students and clear the misconceptions and fear towards the Police and she further urged the students to abide by the law and to understand the Police as they protect the public, sacrifice for the public and that they deserve to be loved and respected.
During the programme, power point presentations on the topic Drug abuse, Road safety and COTPA 2003. Cyber Crime & Cyber Hygiene Practices and Crime against Women and Child, POCSO Act 2012 and Juvenile Justice Act 1989 were given by UBI Medosa Yoho, CI Wokha, UBSI T Thungchio Ngullie and UBSI R Lochumbeni Kikon respectively. The programme also witnessed the performance of short dramas to sensitize the students on the functioning of police station, the release added.
The release also added that, Later at the closing remark, SDPO Wokha urged the College students to abide by laws, to be a good informer, refrain from circulating fake news and to avoid unnecessary assembly during law and order situation and to believe in the Police. The programme was chaired by Renthungo Patton, Asst Professor MTC.
