Wokha & Longsa strengthens old ancestral relationship

Wokha, March 11 (MExN): For the first time in the history of Wokha and Longsa Village and its subordinate bodies, a meeting cum picnic was held at Hammock Resort Wokha on March 11.  

Acknowledging the age old ancestral relationship of the two villages, the meeting was conducted in two sessions where Arhoni Erui, President Wokha village Eloe Hoho chaired the first session. The invocation prayer was pronounced by Phyochamo Ezung, GB Longsa Village council.  

Short speeches were also delivered by Yanphamo Tungoe and Zayio Ezung, both Chairman of the two village councils on the common note that the ‘relation of the two villages should be maintained as it has always been in the past’.  

The main speaker of the gathering was Mhomo Tungoe; SDO Civil Wokha Sardar who spoke on ‘the responsibilities of Wokha and Longsa village with regard to developing Wokha town and the concerned villages’. He said “The village council being the sole authority of the village should be aware of the various schemes and provisions that are being granted by the Central Government and also educate the concerned citizens in making proper use of the provisions.  

He further said “the two villages being the guardians of Wokha town should also be responsible in giving cooperation to the district administration and the concerned authorities in not only developing the town, but also by maintaining  peace and tranquility for the betterment of the society. Hayipemo Ezung; the VDB Secretary of Longsa village pronounced the vote of thanks.  

The second session was chaired by the Chairman of Longsa village council with the invocation pronounced by Mhonthung Erui Secretary for Wokha village VDB which was followed by group discussion. The session ended with a mass spoken prayer which was followed by the Picnic of the meeting. The meeting was well attended by the leaders of the two villages along with many members.
