Wokha marks 16 days of activism with Human Rights Day observance

WOKHA, DECEMBER 10 (MExN): The Wokha district administration, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Sakhi-One Stop Centre and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) under Mission Shakti, organised the culmination programme of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence along with the observance of Human Rights Day at Titi Hall, Wokha, on Wednesday.

Speaking as the special guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, underscored the growing incidence of gender-based violence and said such violence occurs across all spaces, including within communities. He said the objective of the programme was to create awareness and stressed the need to build a society free from violence. He also urged participants to actively spread awareness on gender-based violence and advocate for safer, more inclusive communities.

The programme was chaired by Mhathung Kikon, while the welcome address was delivered by Dr Wonchano E. Enny, DMC, DHEW.
