Wokha-Merapani Highway: Lotha public serves ultimatum

Wokha, February 22 (MExN): Lotha organisations today served another ultimatum to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation and Lucknow based contractor M/S CS infraconstruction Limited to take legal recourse after confirming that is not following the technical specifications in the execution of Wokha- Merapani Highway upgradation to two-lane project.


“The non-compliance of specifications has been observed since the work activities started sometime in October 2017,” alleged a statement issued by the Lotha Hoho Chairman Er. Mhondamo Ovung and General Secretary S Abenthung Ngullie.


In a meeting on February 11, Lotha organisations said that it has resolved to seek legal recourse “unless the contractor complies with the specifications and the widening earthwork is started immediately.”


It further alleged that the beneficiary Lotha organizations, led by Lotha Hoho, have time and again held consultations with both the contractor and NHIDCL, to adhere to DPR Specifications.


“The Detailed project Report (DPR) states that Rehabilitation and Augmentation shall include widening and strengthening of the Project Highway the Carriageway shall be of Two lane,” the release said.


“The Wokha- Merapani Highway, being the most important road for the district for transportation of most of the essential commodities; there can be no compromise whatsoever.”


The Lotha organizations, stating that it will take its own course of action, it added that “for any untoward consequence, the contractor M/S CS infraconstruction Ltd and the NHIDCL will be solely responsible.
