The two-day platinum jubilee celebration of Likya Colony, Wokha held under the theme ‘Brighten your colony’ culminated with MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe gracing the function as the chief host at Likya Community Hall, Wokha on December 13.
The celebration started with Rev Nyanchumo Lotha unveiling and blessing the Jubilee Monolith.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Y M Humtsoe emphasised that the most important objective of the jubilee is rectification and remembering the good deeds of our forefathers. “Jubilee is a celebration of love, forgiveness, togetherness, sharing happiness,” he asserted and made a call for the people to take this 75th Jubilee as an opportunity to forgive one another and walk together for the progress of betterment.
He also urged the people gathered to be grateful towards the God for the opportunity to be a part of the Platinum jubilee.
Addressing the communal aspect, he stressed the importance of loving neighbours, shedding grudges, and striving for a society reminiscent of divine virtues. Encouraging generosity and belief in jubilee blessings, he urged individuals to be memorable contributors to the community's story.
SDO Civil, Wokha, Tsidi Zeliang in his speech, extended his Jubilee greetings. He maintained, ‘this jubilee is the time to appreciate and acknowledge the pioneers of Likya Colony whose dreams and visions has brought this moment today.’ He encouraged everyone to show gratitude and thanked the leaders for the efforts given by them since its formation. He also emphasised that Wokha District is known as ‘Land of Plenty’ but it can also be called as ‘Land of Intellectual’, and urged that as intellectual, one should not convened in just one's own colony or just one place but should go beyond and explore every corner. Furthermore, he encouraged the Likya colony to continue doing their good works and look way forward for more achievements in the days to come.
Wokha Village Council, Chairman, Vandan Erui, on behalf of Wokha Village and its council, appealed the Likya Colony to take this opportunity to forgive each other for if there was any wrongdoing in the past and maintain a healthy relationship with families, neighbours and fostering relationships with Wokha Village.
A Jubilee Souvenir documenting the Likya Colony 75 year history was released during the service. Later, Rev Abemo Jungio, Pastor WTBC offered the Jubilee Blessing prayer.
The programme was chaired by Er Limhathung Lotha, welcome address was delivered by N Thungjamo Lotha Deacon, exhortation was delivered by Retd Director H&FW Nagaland Dr L M Murry, greeting was extended by SDO civil Tsidi Zeliang and Wokha Village Chairman Vandan Erui. Vote of thanks was delivered by Retd Director H&FW Nagaland, Dr NM Kithan and benediction was delivered by M Orenboni Kikon .
