Wokha Police crime updates

Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): Several people have been arrested in Wokha district under Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989 and other charges.  

On January 5, police arrested two persons identified as Yanbothung Ezung (38) and Tep Bahadur with liquor, Wokha Police posted on its official Facebook page. The seized liquor comprised of 21 cases of He-Man beer, 24 cases of OC blue, 58 cases of kingfisher beer, 975 bottles of MC rum, and 1869 cans of foster beer, the post said. A pick-up truck bearing registration number Nl-05 G-0546 was also seized from the two. In this connection, Bhandari Police Station registered a case under NLTP Act for further investigation.  

Wokha Police also seized 100 bottles of IMFL (750ML) at Chukitong outpost check gate on January 12. In this regard, two persons identified as Abitoli Achumi (27) and Vesheli Zhimomi (22) were apprehended and a case registered under NLTP for further investigation, it was informed.  

Drugs seized

Meanwhile, Wokha Police on February 1 raided one house of Thungbemo Ngullie (32) at Officer’s Colony in Wokha Town based on information from reliable source and recovered Spasmo Proxyvon (SP) - 467 capsules and Nitrosen - 38 tablets, according to the police. The accused was arrested and a case registered under DC Act for further investigation, it stated.  

Four held for extortion

Three persons were apprehended by Wokha Police on charges of extortion at Daily Market, Wokha Town on January 18. The three have been identified as Zubemo Erui (19), Bipenthung Erui (18), Mharomo Ranthung (18). In this connection, Wokha Police registered a case for further investigation, the police added. Wokha Police also apprehended one person on suspicion of extortion on January 11 from a hotel in Wokha Town. One .22 pistol, 6 live rounds, one Nokia mobile phone, and a cash of Rs. 2360/- were also seized from the accused identified as Mhonthung Tungoe (42). Accordingly, Wokha Police registered a case for further investigation, it was further informed.  

ILP defaulters arrested

In the month of January 2018, a total of 14 persons were booked with regard to Inner Line Permit (ILP) by Wokha Police from Bhandari check gate, PWD colony in Wokha Town, and Tsumang A in Wokha Town. Wokha Police registered a case under relevant act for further investigation, the police informed.
