Wokha, June 15 (MExN): To celebrate World Blood Donor Day, a programme was held the conference hall of Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital (DMMDH) Wokha on June 14.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr Mhonchan N. Kithan, Medical Superintendent, DMMDH Wokha urged the public to come forward for voluntary blood donation as it plays a major role in saving lives during medical emergencies.
He emphasised on more awareness on blood transfusion as there is still apprehension, ignorance and misconception associated with blood donation.
Dr Nzanthung Lotha, Senior Medical Officer and Pathologist, DMMDH Wokha briefed the participants on the function of blood in our body, different types of blood groups, eligibility criteria for blood donation and benefits of blood donation. He expressed his gratitude to all the voluntary blood donors and encouraged the younger generation to be more proactive in donating blood and hence save life.
