The Wokha District Administration's Wokha SAATHI (Smart AI-based Assistant for Timely Help & Interface) WhatsApp Chatbot has achieved a historic milestone by securing the Gold Award at the National Awards for e-Governance 2023-2024.
The award and certificate were presented by Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, during the 27th National Conference on e-Governance held in Mumbai on September 3. Ajit Kumar Ranjan, Rohit Singh, and Anuranjan Singh, Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow (MGNF), received the award on behalf of the Wokha District Administration.
Ranjan was the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha when the initiative was officially launched by then Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment A. Narayanaswamy on May 19.
“This recognition is a significant milestone, marking the first time an initiative from Nagaland has received a gold award for its exemplary contribution to e-governance. The award underscores the state’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient governance and improving public service delivery,” the DIPR report noted.
It exemplifies the district’s dedication to enhancing citizen engagement and accessibility to government services through innovative technological solutions, with more than 40 services integrated into the one-stop chatbot, it said.
This AI-based chatbot provides timely assistance and serves as a user-friendly interface for residents, ensuring they have easy access to vital information and services. It also enables proactive Information Education Campaign (IEC) through two-way communication between the government and citizens on a 24x7 basis, it added.
