The Wokha Town Council (WTC) officially launched the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign today September 17 at Wokha Town Council Office with Renbomo Ezung, ADC & Executive Officer WTC as the speaker of the program.
The event, marked the beginning of a cleanliness drive running from 14th September to 2nd October 2024. This year’s theme is 'Swabhav Swachhata - Sanskaar Swachhata', focusing on Cleanliness of Nature and cleanliness of culture.
Renbomo Ezung, ADC and Executive Officer of WTC, administered the Swachhata Pledge and urged everyone to take it seriously for a cleaner Wokha. He emphasised that this initiative is a nationwide programme and not merely a local or state government effort.
He highlighted the importance of community participation in achieving the campaign’s objectives and stressed that cleanliness should begin within our own households rather than waiting for others to act. He also assured that every issue would be addressed and resolved progressively in collaboration with the Wokha Town Council.
Khozamo Lotha, Chairperson of WTC, delivered a brief address, emphasising the importance of cleanliness in maintaining both natural and cultural heritage.
Orenyimo Odyuo, Sanitation Inspector of WTC, underscored the collective commitment to cleanliness.
The event was chaired by T. Chonthungo Ezung, Councillor of WTC, invocation was led by K. Lidemo Murry, Councillor of WTC, and the session concluded with a benediction by Thungchano Z Kikon, Councillor of WTC.
