Wokha Village welcome gate, developmental activities inaugurated

The inauguration of the Wokha Village Welcome Gate, alongside various developmental activities took place today at Ratssiphen, Wokha Village. The event was graced by the Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, NCS (Retd.), MLA of the Government of Nagaland as the chief guest.

Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe performed the ceremonial ribbon cutting and unveiling the welcome gate and Rev O Thungben Kikon, Pastor of the Wokha Village Baptist Church, offered a blessing and dedicated the welcome gate.

In his address, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe expressed his appreciation to the people of Wokha Village, the landowners, civil society organisations, and all stakeholders for their support throughout the construction process. He emphasised that these collective efforts and beautifications were not only for the betterment of the village but also in anticipation of upcoming jubilees.

Humtsoe also commended the architect behind the design, Lichan L Odyou, stating that his vision and creativity have significantly contributed to the project’s success. He praised Lichan for his ability to blend functionality with aesthetic appeal, enhancing the village's charm and ensuring that the architectural elements resonate with the local culture and environment.

Furthermore, he also expressed his amazement at the enthusiasm demonstrated by the villagers, highlighting their willingness to assist in every possible way to bring this project to fruition.

As part of the event, the inauguration of 40 streetlights and paver blocks from Ngashen Fishery to the Welcome Gate (NH-2) marked a significant step forward in improving infrastructure and ensuring safety in the area. Humtsoe mentioned that similar initiatives are in the pipeline for other villages.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Renbomo Ezung also lauded Wokha Village for its judicious utilisation of LADP funds, setting a commendable example for other communities in Nagaland. He lauded the architectural design, congratulating Lichan L Odyou for successfully completing the Welcome Gate and underscoring the importance of well-planned infrastructure.

The ceremony was chaired by Vandan Erui, Chairman, Wokha Village Council, an invocation led by Nongothung Kikon, Assistant Pastor of the Wokha Village Baptist Church. The ceremony ended with a benediction by Chibenthung Humtsoe, Asst. Pastor Wokha Village Baptist Church.
