
Morung Express News Dimapur | February 20 A woman from Nagaland, in her 20s, was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unidentified man in the wee hours of February 19. “A case has been registered in Hauz Khas police station and an investigation has been launched. Efforts are being made to ascertain the culprit’s identity,” DCP Chinmoy Biswal told the IANS news service. “She was offered a lift home by the accused, who said his vehicle was parked at some distance… Thereafter, on the pretext of guiding the victim, the accused led her to an isolated stretch in the adjoining park area and allegedly sexually assaulted her,” Biswal said. According to a Hindustan Times report, the woman in her complaint stated that she was assaulted twice by the accused. A social worker in Delhi stated that the victim along with a cousin had gone out with a group of friends to the Hauz Khas village area in South Delhi on Saturday night. Around 1am, the two women were trying to hail a cab to return home when two men reportedly in their teens offered them a lift. The assault reportedly occurred thereafter. The Hindustan Times further reported that police detained six men on Monday in connection to the incident The social worker added that the victim’s statements were recorded before a magistrate at the District Court, Saket on Monday. Further, that a medical test of the victim was also conducted. Meanwhile, the Concerned Citizens of Northeast in Delhi NCR will hold a protest on February 21 at Hauz Khas village from 4-6 PM against the “brutal assault.” It demanded “full investigation and arrest of the culprits and justice be done and proper counseling, relief and rehabilitation of the survivor.”
