A 22 year-old woman was stabbed by a man in the busy Nyamo Lotha Road, Dimapur, on March 22. The victim, an employee of a shop, was reportedly alone at the shop when the attacker approached and stabbed her several times on the abdomen. The attacker, said to be a shop owner in Dimapur’s New Market, absconded. The victim was rushed to the hospital where her condition was said to be stable after undergoing emergency surgery. The police released a statement stating that the victim was attacked with a “sharp knife” at the store where she was employed by one Abdul Majid. “In this connection a case has been registered at Women Police Station, Dimapur under relevant provisions of Law and investigation ongoing,” the brief statement said.
