
Dimapur, January 15 (MExN): The Western Yimchungru Women Organisation (WYWO) organized a seminar on women empowerment at Tokishe Village on January 12 with Alila, Associate Pastor, Yimchunger Baptist Church, Chumukedma as the resource person.
The speaker asserted that women empowerment can be achieved when a woman is given the freedom to exercise her interest or talent, a congenial social environment, respected as a capable woman and given equal opportunities. She also urged each individual to possess certain capacities through which one can exercise and build thorough continuous learning, said a press release from Media Cell, YWO.
An exhortation was also delivered by Throngkila Tohanba, who emphasized on five qualities such as God fearing, truthfulness, being sociable & extending cooperation to one's community whenever required, proper time management between family and social commitments, and being women of strong will. All these are essential qualities for the women to go forward, she added and encouraged the gathering to maintain peace & harmony in the family which will eventually lead to a better society. A short speech was also delivered by PKF Tochu, President, Western Yimchunger Hoho (WYH) and Kaisa, Vice President, YWO. The programme saw display of cultural dance by Tokishe Village Women Organisation.
