Wokha, July 27 (MExN): Riphyim Old Village Council under Wokha Block conducted the Women only Gram Sabha at Riphyim Old Village Council Hall, Wokha on July 23.
A DIPR report stated that the programme was initiated under the Project for Creating Clusters of Model Gram Panchayat to Achieve Holistic & Sustainable Development through Institutional strengthening of Gram Panchayats and Enablement of Quality GPDP across India, Coordinated by the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Ministry of Rural Development (MoPR) in convergence with RD department, Health Department, Sakhi One-Stop Centre, and NRLM.
The resource persons for the Gram Sabha were Renthunglo Kikon (Centre Administrator, Sakhi-One Stop Centre Wokha), Premy E Ezung (Community Health Officer, Changsu HWC), and H Wophyomo (Area Coordinator SISD, BMMU Wokha). During the program, Renthunglo Kikon spoke on services provided by Sakhi One-Stop Centre, and Premy E Ezung described different schemes and programs for mothers and pregnant women. H Wophyomo gave a detailed session on Self Help Groups and their loan facilities. The Gram Sabha concluded with a general discussion.
Shanpan Ngullie (Chairman, Village Council) delivered the welcome address, and the program ended with the vote of thanks of Yanasali Kithan (President, Women Hoho).
