Dimapur MARCH 12 (MExN): The Women Society of Pfutseromi has expressed shock on reading the rejoinder issued on March 9 by the parents of the gang who raped and attempted rape on minor student girls of Pfutseromi Village. In a rejoinder issued by
Mero Melhipezu-u, Chairperson, Women Society, Pfutseromi , it stated that the Women Society wants to clarify that it is standing by its original statements. “We believe that the statement issued by us was more authentic because it was based on the living witnesses of the four minor girls and was further verified through the Confessional statement given by one of the gang members who was brought to our Village custody for sometime”, it stated.
The release stated that the statement issued by the parents of the gang was not based on living witnesses but on mere “presumptions” (as they themselves used the very term) and fabricated information obtained from the culprits. Further it stated that it had also come to their knowledge and the knowledge of the Chakhesang Mothers’ Association that Kewekhape Khupfu, the father of one of the gang members, was not a signatory to the rejoinder given as he claimed.
The release further stated that the Women Society earnestly appeals to all right thinking persons not to be swayed by statements and information which are not based on solid ground. “We, further, appeal to you to uphold our cause together so that incidents of this nature do not recur in our society”, it added.
