Dimapur, May 9 (DIPR): Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) Ltd, Inaugurated training centre for women under the scheme Support to Training & Employment Programme (STEP) sponsored by Ministry of Women & Child Development Government of India at Dhansaripar Sub- Division on May 9.
MLA & Advisor Co-operation & Sericulture Azheto Zhimomi inaugurating the centre as the chief guest said that this being one among the many projects under communitization programme envisage by the present Government under the dynamic leadership of the chief minister Neiphiu Rio to achieved the state vision “Food Sufficiency by 2020”. Azheto said that this project is for life sustainable project avail and encouraged to an individual or to a Self help Groups (SHG) to become a professional through this capacity training programme to upgrade their skills to become economically self dependent. He also said handloom production unit has a huge potential even in an international market, whereby he urged the trainees to be sincere in their choice of profession to become successful entrepreneurs to uplift their economic status for the benefit of the District and state as whole.
Managing Director NHHDC Ltd Hokiye Yepthomi in his welcome speech said that this training centre is basically for under privilege women to help them and be economically self dependent ,he also said that this centre will also promote Self Help Groups (SHGs) of their production in handloom unit , he added that to encourage people who venture in to handloom unit in large scale the NHHDC will provide machinery on subsidized rate and promote marketing linkages through state, national and international level exhibition and loan could be obtain through banks.
SDO (C) Dhansaripar Anoop Kinchi said that handloom &handicrafts being one of the most employed sector after Agriculture sector in the state. He also said that north- eastern state is one among the biggest handloom producing state as out of every four person one is an artisan. He opined that the state need to improve the productivity, the factor will be successful if we reduce the cost of production and to compete in the international market it need to produce in large scale with new motif and designs to meet the market demand .with this improvement it will help the health sectors and child education as it bring comprehensive production unit.
Altogether three hundred trainees have been selected from the Dhansaripar Division for the three months training programme.
