WOMEN’S U-19 TROPHY: Nagaland loses opening match

Dimapur, September 30 (MExN): Nagaland women’s Under 19 team today lost their opening match against Arunachal Pradesh in the ongoing Women’s Under 19 One Day Trophy 2021-22 against Arunachal Pradesh at the KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar. 

Opting to field after winning the toss, Nagaland restricted the opponent to 151 runs in 42.3 over, with Soyimkumla leading the bowling attack with 4 wickets, followed by Watinaro with 3 wickets. Team captain Alemienla and Priyanka Karmakar took 2 and 1 wickets respectively.     

 However, the team could not repeat the feat in batting as Nagaland was bowled out for 142, 10 runs short of the target. Alemienla and Karmakar were top scorers with 29 and 27 respectively. 

Nagaland will play Meghalaya next on October 1 at Vikash Cricket Ground, Bhubaneshwar.

Meanwhile, the Men’s U-19 team will also be in action on Friday and is scheduled to play their third Vinoo Mankad Trophy Men’s U-19 Trophy match against Sikkim at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi. Nagaland team is yet to lose a match.
