The Woods second summer camp from June 30

Mokokchung, June 16 (MExN): After a very successful camp last year, ‘The Woods’ is ready for the second summer camp at the resort which will be held from June 30 to July 2, 2017.

The Woods is a scenic resort located some 12 kilometers away from Mokokchung town and far away from the madding crowd at the Yimchalu (Sungratsü) forest surrounded by verdant hills and pristine streams.

The proprietor of The Woods, Adang Jamir, who as a young boy loved outdoor adventure and strongly believes that a child should not be confined within the safety of the four walls of their homes, decided to hold the summer camp for the children to enjoy during their vacation.

The response at the 1st Summer Camp in 2016 was encouraging with twenty-four young school children registering for the three day camp.

“This year, the enthusiasm both from the parents and students was overwhelming; therefore, the proprietor of The Woods thoroughly renovated his resort and also expanded it to accommodate more campers,” Adang said.

However, the number of seats has been limited to forty campers only and registration will be on ‘first come, first basis’ after paying a nominal fee of Rs 3000 which will cover everything for the three days and three nights stay. The age limit for the campers is 8-16 years and it is open for both boys and girls. The camp will be supervised by a camp director and assisted by volunteers from among the Mokokchung town citizens.

The main objective of the summer camp is to make the children come out of their comfort zones and to explore their surroundings other than being confined to their rooms watching televisions or using computers etc. The camp also intends to make the children come in close contact with nature, love and appreciate the biodiversity; and also foster friendship among and between the campers. But most of all, the summer camp envisages to make the children more disciplined, more refreshed and more invigorated as the go back to their school.

Among the many activities, the campers will be introduced to different activities like learning how to swim at the state of the art The Woods swimming pool, learn to handicrafts like basket making, cook different dishes, tent making etc. By popular demand, the 2nd summer camp will also have the ‘Amazing Race’, trekking, angling in the freshwater streams, music session and big-screen movies etc.

“The preparations have been completed and The Woods awaits the campers for another memorable Summer Camp,” Adang Jamir, said in a press release.
