DIMAPUR, APRIL 28 (MExN): A programme in honour of Parliamentary Secretary for Excise, Economics & Statistics and LM&CP, T Torechu and Parliamentary Secretary for CAWD, R Tohanba, was held at DB’s Court Shamator on Saturday, April 27.
A press note informed that the event was jointly organized by the Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC), Yimchungrü Akheru Arihako (YAA), Yimchungrü Women Organization (YWO), Yimchungrü Gazetted Officers’’ Association (YGOA) and Yimchungrü Baptist Boru Amukhunto (YBBA).
It informed that extending appreciation to the YTC, YAA, YWO, YGOA and YBBA for organizing the programme, Tohanba in his address urged the Yimchungrü people to maintain their identity and culture. He also stressed on the importance of peace and prosperity within the community, which he stated is essential to pave the way for development. Tohanba further emphasized on the current work culture with the idea of “work more, talk less.” He further called upon the people to avoid the habit of arguments, which he said would only bring obstructions, misunderstanding and hatred in the society.
Torechu in his address also appreciated the noble gesture of the Yimchungrü organizations in honoring both he and Tohanba for their success in the recently concluded Nagaland Assembly Elections. He expressed optimism that one day the Yimchungrü people would also confidently march forward in every aspects of life like the rest of the Nagas. Torechu underlined the need to inculcate self respect, self-confidence, moral integrity and to maintain harmony among the Yimchungrü people, irrespective of their different dialects.
He stated that the people speaking various dialects including Langa (common dialect), Tikhir, Chir, Mukhar and Longphu together constitute the Yimchungrü tribe and that no one should make any distinction basing on dialects. He asserted that all should respect each other and have mutual trust.
Torechu also called upon the village elders, leaders and decision makers to discharge their duties with sincerity and devotion. YTC vice president, Yanba Yimchungrü, chaired the programme, which witnessed presentations of folk dances and songs, followed by a feast.
