Work more, talk less: Torechu

KOHIMA, MARCH 19 (MExN): Parliamentary secretary for Economics & Statistics, Excise and Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, T Torechu, today called upon officers and staff of Economics & Statistics department to adopt the motto “Work more talk less” and work with missionary zeal.

The parliamentary secretary said that since the Economics & Statistics department plays a vital role in the planning and development processes, the officers and staff should work like Christian missionaries for overall uplift and betterment of the society, and forgetting individual gains.  Torechu was addressing a felicitation programme organized by the officers and staff of Economics & Statistics department to welcome their new parliamentary secretary.

Lauding the officers and staffs of the department for their contribution in development of the state, Torechu said that if they continue to work with sincerity and dedication, then change would surely come. The parliamentary secretary also said that DAN government under the dynamic leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio was very concerned and serious on how to improve workings of all departments for maximum benefit of the people and progress of the state.

Stressing on the need to “go forward collectively”, Torechu also said the officers and staff should foster the spirit of “oneness and unity” so that other departments can also learn lessons from them.

Additional secretary, Economics & Statistics, Kevileno Angami, in her welcome address said that the department’s officers and staff were lucky to have an “upright and mature” man as their parliamentary secretary. She said that under the guidance of Torechu, the department would go a long way in contributing to the service of the people.

Director, Economics & Statistics, Y Sacheo Ovung, highlighted on the activities of the department and said that since inception of Economics & Statistics as a full-fledged department, the department has come a long way. Additional director of the department, I Chuba Jamir, chaired the felicitation programme and deputy director, R Kronu, proposed vote of thanks.
