 
                          
                  
Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya today cautioned against self-centered education and termed educated people, working for their own pockets or families, as ‘looters of society.’
The fruits of independence have not reached equitably to all the section of the people as only some section of people are enjoying all the luxury while many citizen are still downtrodden, he said adding, ‘this is not acceptable in democracy.’
Addressing the felicitation programmes held in his honour at St. Joseph University and ICFAI University, Dimapur on July 8, the Governor also urged all to work towards strengthening their own tribe, village and nation.
The universities are the pillars of the nation to make India economically strong, he maintained urging such institutions to bring out employable youth in accordance to the need of the society.
Acharya, who is completing his term this month as the Governor of Nagaland, also expressed gratitude to all for their love and respect shown to him during his tenure, informed a DIPR report of the events.
The Governor also stressed on creating an economically strong state saying that despite blessed with rich natural resources Nagaland is economically poor, the report said. He reminded the people that in a democratic and secular country every citizen have equal rights.
Meanwhile, the Vice chancellor of St. Joseph University said the Governor as not only a good administrator but also someone who is actively involved in nurturing younger generation. The VC also acknowledged his involvement in establishing the university and financial contribution for setting up of different awards.
The VC of ICFAI University also appreciated Acharya for the concern shown towards the university and for inspiring them to take up new initiative, the report added.
